INTEGRATED PROPULSION & CHARGING SYSTEM
FOR HYBRIDE PLUG IN SHUNTING LOCOMOTIVES
The first Hybrid Locomotive produced in Romania was presented on February
22 in Constanta Railway Station at an official ceremony.
It was made by turning out a classic Diesel Hydraulic Locomotive, it
reaches 30 km/h and shows 12 hour range in shunting service based on
Battery only.
For this Locomotive, INDA has developed the integrated Propulsion and Battery Charging System within two hours and a half from a standard three-phase mains terminal for a full charge from empty.
The most important advantages of LHy-M over classic shunting locomotives
are the followings:
- 70% reduction of pollutant emissions,
- decrease of specific consumption by 60%,
- decrease of maintenance costs by about 15%.
